Early Elementary Science

A detailed list of recommended tools and materials will be provided upon enrollment, and our instructor will offer guidance on where to purchase these items. Majority of items will be household products that are easily accessible. If you do not want to purchase the other items, labs will be filmed and available for you to view. 

Sensational Science: Embark on a journey of sensory exploration as we delve into the fascinating world of our senses. Through interactive activities and experiments, children will discover how sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch work together to help us perceive the world around us. From optical illusions to taste tests, students will gain a deeper understanding of the sensory systems that shape our experiences.

 

Magnificent Magnets: Investigate the invisible force of magnetism and its fascinating effects on objects around us. Through hands-on experiments, students will discover the properties of magnets and how they can attract and repel.

 

Marvels of Matter: Dive into the properties of matter and uncover the secrets of solids, liquids, and gases. Through engaging experiments and observations, children will explore concepts such as density, buoyancy, and states of matter, gaining a deeper understanding of the building blocks of the universe.

 

The Water Cycle Adventure: Journey through the water cycle and discover the incredible journey that water takes as it circulates through the Earth's atmosphere, land, and oceans. Through hands-on activities and simulations, students will learn about evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and the vital role water plays in sustaining life on our planet.

 

Weather Wonders: Investigate the ever-changing world of weather and meteorology. Through experiments, observations, and weather simulations, students will learn about the water cycle, atmospheric phenomena, and how weather impacts our daily lives.

 

Rockin' Rocks and Marvelous Minerals: Embark on a geological expedition to uncover the mysteries of rocks and minerals. Students will learn about the formation processes, properties, and uses of various rocks and minerals. From identifying different types of rocks to discovering the sparkling allure of crystals, children will gain a deeper appreciation for the Earth's geological treasures.

 

Dinosaur Discovery and Fossil Fun: Step back in time to the age of dinosaurs as we explore the fascinating world of prehistoric life. Through interactive activities and fossil investigations, children will learn about different dinosaur species, their habitats, and behaviors. 

 

Exploring Our Solar System: Dive into the wonders of space by learning about the planets, moons, and stars that make up our solar system. From the fiery surface of the sun to the icy depths of Pluto, children will embark on a cosmic adventure.

 

Life Cycles Unveiled: Explore the wonders of life cycles as we delve into the journey from birth to maturity in living organisms. From the transformation of caterpillars into butterflies to the growth stages of plants, students will unravel the mysteries of reproduction, growth, and development in various species.

 

Plant Power: Get your hands dirty as we explore the wonders of the plant kingdom. Through gardening activities and plant dissections, children will learn about photosynthesis, plant life cycles, and the importance of biodiversity.

 

Amazing Animals: Journey into the animal kingdom and learn about the diverse creatures that inhabit our planet. From the tiniest insects to the mightiest mammals, students will discover how animals adapt to their environments and interact with one another.

 

Eco Explorers: Become environmental stewards as we investigate ecosystems, conservation, and sustainability. Through nature walks, habitat studies, and eco-friendly projects, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world and their role in protecting it.

 

Each unit will incorporate our 5 aspects of education: leadership, hands-on learning, real world application, art and literature, and collaboration. This includes STEM and STEAM activities!

Led by Kassidy Jones, Creator and Founder of Fields of Learning with years of experience in the science and agricultural industry along with a strong educational background. She is currently pursuing her PhD researching how children REALLY learn best and how to implement it into our innovative platform! 

Classes will begin August 27, 2024 - November 21, 2024 (1st Semester) January 7, 2025 - April 24, 2025 (Second Semester) 

 

CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 10 STUDENTS PER LIVE CLASS. This allows the instructor to give tailored information to each student and give the class the size to be able to discuss and interact efficiently. 

 

Class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am MST

What is the difference between Live, self-paced and hybrid classes?

 

• The live classes give your student the opportunity to interact with other students their age from around the world! We will have about 60 classes together where we will learn, collaborate, and explore science topics. Self-paced classes are completely asynchronous. You will recieve the workbook, activities, and labs for you to do as your schedule permits. The hybrid option gives you the opportunity to work through it as you please, but also you can post lab results, communicate with other students from around the globe in our discussion forums, and get all of your grading/questions answered in real time by your instructor! You can also join the live classes once a semester for any class you would like! (Class schedules will be posted so you can decide which one you would like to attend.)

 

Is everything in the classes required for me to do?

 

• NO! Research shows that excellence is created through the inward passion of learning a topic. So classes are designed for students to be able to have a great foundation of exploration for each unit. They can watch additional videos, read books from our Ultimate Book List that pertain to that particular subject, or have kid friendly websites that they can explore for more information (with your supervision and permission of course). Tests, writing opportunities, additional labs and activities as well as related topics are also included and they can be used as much or as little as you and your student would like. 

Get what you put into these classes. If you want a simple open and go curriculum then you have it. If you want tests, activities, experiments, reading, math application, writing opportunities, and additional resources then you have access to those as well! Choose what you want to do and what works best for your family.
